Will we finally make contact with intelligent life elsewhere in the universe in the 21st Century?

The pace of high-tech advancements and innovations continues to be mind-boggling. I am thinking maybe we will finally have some kind of first encounter or communications with another intelligent civilization out in a nearby solar system--one that's just 10 or 20 light years away.
