Did somebody give Robert Mugabe a Lobotomy after 2000?

After the british conceded Rhodesia in 1980, Mugabe only focused on improving the economy--and it actually helped Zimbabwe--it was still the bread basket of Africa.However, about 2000 Mugabe began that land program that destroyed Zimbabwe--I wonder if he got a lobotomy because why else would he destroy a bread basket?
