Spiritually speaking (as allecat would say) why does it hurt when someone dies?

I'm so sorry for your loss,a sister is a special person in your life.It hurts all though you know she went to heaven because her place next to you is empty.The best thing to do is to remember the good times.Talk to her if you miss her,she went first to prepare a place for you all together in heaven.All my love and a warm hug.
