A new form of time travel?

I'm writing a story and want to use a new form of time travel. In the back to the future movies, bill and ted movies, and the time machine books, the time travellers use their machine to simply zap into whatever desired period. I want to use something a little different, like in the quantum leap tv series, he bounces into past personas bodies. Always via machine, however, which is what i want to use. I'm using a time machine in the story, but i want a new method of time travel. any suggestions?
