If Israel would have had a civil war which side would ot god take?

the side with the priests who were making the money and had the power and writing the books and history? or the "heretics"? since when you read the old testament god obviously favors Israel over everyone else, and many times "smites their enemies" and allows Israeli soldiers to macre men women and children?
