What do you think of this story idea?

I think the story sounds cool, but there is one thing that I really don't care for. I see a lot of stories and tv shows and the such coming up about boarding schools, and I really have to say that I think it is overdone and is a way to get out of including parents into the story. I think if maybe Melanie just moved to a town where Red Cross Academy is and attended it during the day like a regular school, it would be much cooler and less cliche. Also, although I've never read VN, I am going to guess there is a boarding school in it, which if you took my idea, would make your story sound less like VN.
